Sterling 2 Platinum

Most of you know that my email address for the last few years has been Sterling2platinum@yahoo/gmail and that idea, going from "Sterling" to "Platinum" represents my evolution as a teenager to a young adult. It was a pun because of the music industry (platinum=success, selling 1 million albums) and I was pursuing success in the music industry at the time. I received a lot of success in the music industry since that time and I'm in the process of achieving much more, yet my definition of success has changed immensely as I have made that transition from teenager to young adult. As you can see from my blog posts in 2008, most were about "The Good Life" as someone like Kanye West would describe it (prior to "808's and Heartbreak") and now, in 2009, I've come to the realization that success and achieving one's full potential is not an individual activity. Greed and jealousy do not get people far, in fact they frequently take people millions of steps back. Lots of the people I have looked up to in the past have been motivated by jealousy and/or greed and I see lots of people in my generation motivated and pursuing lifestyles that will ultimately not fulfill them. I hope this blog inspires people to reevaluate their dreams and pushes them to have benevolent influences on culture and society.

First Thing That Came Up

When I google-imaged "Elegance"

Lol

What do you personify?

Every few days/weeks or so I get fascinated with a concept and right now, I'm fascinated by elegance. Elegance is far from extravagance, is distant from accomplishment, different from class and impossible to achieve with anxiety and negative thoughts.

To me, elegance is about inner beauty and generosity and giving and showing love to others without expecting any back for yourself.

I believe elegance is predominantly personified by people that believe in karma and appreciate God and nature and the feeling that what they sincerely put into and give the world and the steps they take toward achieving a more benevolent society is a means and an end at the same time.

I couldn't agree more with William Ellery Channing's sentiment more when he said it's better to see elegance than luxury. Meditate on that thought, today. Money can buy a luxurious lifestyle but being content with one's self and the love surrounding them is priceless and substantially more fulfilling in my mind. Too often, people pursue extravagance and forget about what would really fulfill them... they act fake and insincere and draw attention and are gravitated to the wrong things.

Often, it takes the reevaluation of our goals and stepping outside of our comfort zones to truly achieve, deep down, what we know is best for us and the world. Be an inspiration to others through your kindness and allow the manifestations of your positive (not jealous nor greedy) thoughts dictate who you are in the world.

Tough Day @ The Office

My baby cousin, Everett, on Christmas Eve. SO precious!

Wow

Dad: Why are you watching Bromance? It's just like the BFF show with Paris Hilton but with dudes

Me: OMG! I am SO proud of you for making that connection!

(Dad rolls his eyes and leaves room)
